Let’s Speak Japanese (Winter–Spring)

Kids have fun learning new words and phrases in the local language.

What will I learn in this class?
Living in a new country is an exciting time for children. And they can get even more from the experience by picking up the language.

In this introductory class, ages 5 to 6 learn basic expressions and vocabulary in Japanese while having fun trying out their new linguistic skills with other kids and the teacher.

Children who are studying Japanese at school can use these sessions to review and practice what they have already learned.

What are the benefits of this class?
Children absorb language quickly, and these classes provide a wonderful stepping stone for kids to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and society, with a chance to make Japanese friends.

As plenty of research has shown, there are numerous benefits to learning a second (or third) language, including improved memory, problem-solving skills, creativity, self-esteem and cultural understanding. It also provides a foundation for further study and career enhancement later in life.

Who will teach this class?
Hideyuki Kondo earned his Japanese teaching certificate in 2016 and has taught his native tongue to foreigners, including children, in Japan ever since. He established Tsubasa Japanese Language School in Tokyo in 2017 and has experience teaching a wide range of ability levels. He also teaches Japanese as part of the Club’s annual Camp Discovery summer program.
