CHOP Scoops Wine Award for Third Consecutive Year
CHOP Steakhouse has won a prestigious wine list award for a third straight year.
The World of Fine Wine, an internationally acclaimed, award-winning wine magazine, ranked CHOP top with three stars in the best medium-size wine list in Asia category for 2017.
Judges praised the wine list's design, diversity and descriptions.
In particular, they were impressed with the selection of California wines on offer. Francis Percival, a food and wine writer, commended the spectrum of wines from the Golden State, including “classic modern, new wave and classic old names.”
The British quarterly publication also complimented the list's "intelligent choices from Europe and the rest of the New World."
CHOP's wine list was evaluated on a number of criteria, including its range of producers, regions, vintages, styles and formats, as well as on presentation and originality.
Meanwhile, American Bar & Grill received one star in the short wine list category.
Club Hosts Tokyo 2020 Committee
The Club's band of badminton enthusiasts recently welcomed members of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Organizing Committee for an evening of friendly games.
The group played a series of casual matches in the Gymnasium.
"We had former Olympians Kimiko Jinnai and Kumiko Ogura play on our TAC team and they partnered with our Members for some fun and good competition," said Member JoAnn Yoneyama.
Jinnai represented Japan in the women's doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, while Ogura won bronze in the women's doubles at the 2007 world championships and competed at the 2008 Beijing Games.
The Club's shuttlers meet each Tuesday evening.
Cellar to Be Renovated

The Cellar will close for renovations from May 8, while the Prestia ATM will be closed from May 9 and reopen on May 17.
During this period, The Cellar's services will be housed in the nearby Beate Sirota Gordon Classroom.
The B1 Member Services area will also undergo changes, with the front desk repositioned. The desk will close on May 8 and reopen on May 16.
